The flowers were beautiful this spring in front of the shops in downtown Falmouth. One morning while filming for a TV show I took several photos and a did a quick sketch so I could paint this pic one day. Lucky I did the flowers are now gone by with the summer heat, and I would never have been able to set my easel in this spot to paint because it is in the street where I had to take the pic.

Lately I've been hard at work filming lots of shows at FCTV, I can't seem to find the perfect balance when I film; my painting stops, when I paint I have to put filming and editing on hold. Seems to me I have to create more hours in the day. Never the less I do have a painting on the easel I started a week ago; I need to add something which I am working on, not sure if I like the water, what attracted me to the scene was all the green growing and reflecting in the water and the rocks, not sure if I've achieved what I wanted, maybe a sailboat moored.....

My artist quote today.

"He unfolds, as a painter," said Cezanne, "that which has not yet been said; he translates it into absolute terms of painting--something other than reality."

I'm still trying to achieve my painting reality.

A teacher quote:
"In reality a piece of art is not a depiction of something else, it stands alone as a new creation. What is it? It is what it is, a painting judged without the need for comparison."

I love this "It is what it is" The beauty of a painting, sculpture, a song or even a dance, all of art really, is that… It is what it is.
